Knights Claim First Home Win of Season
In the two USL PDL Mid-Atlantic matches last night, the Knights beat the Bohs, 2-1, and Reading United AC drubbed the Hogges 4-0.
Kingsley Onwuka (26) got on the board first for the Bohs. The Knights’ Raphael Abreu (19) tided it up in the second half, then went on to score a second time to put the Knights ahead. Jose Batista is credited with the assist on that second goal.

NASL Rewind Expanded?
I’ve been following the NASL casually this season, mainly by watching the weekly “NASL Rewind”, a video highlight compilation that covers the week’s matches in about five minutes.
As I watched the Rewind for Week 12 I thought, Alright, you’re showing me the goals, but there’s more to football than just the goals. What came before? What surrounds those goals? ...

Why We Should Care About Soccer
I’m reading Gabriel Kuhn’s book Soccer vs. the Stateand the latter part of the book is drawn from a pamphlet called the “Anarchist Football (Soccer) Manual.” In the opening part of the manual I found this quote: “Football, as the embodiment of a need to communicate and to share, is one of the greatest concepts of humanity.” This idea intrigued me so I went...

Last Minute Drama at the Met Oval
A pair of late PKs marked a dramatic ending to the match tonight between the Brooklyn Knights and the Ocean City Nor’easters. A questionable (at least from where I was sitting) handball in the box call against the Knights in the 89th minute added insult to injury setting up the Nor’easters for what looked like a 3-nil drubbing of the Brooklyn krewe. But the Knights continued to push...

Lady Rough Riders in Action Against North Jersey...
Tonight at 8 pm, the Long Island Rough Riders women’s team kicks off against the North Jersey Valkyries in New Jersey. The last time these teams met was June 9th when the Valkyries snatched a last minute goal (against the run of play) to win the game. I wouldn’t have minded so much except that there was a really annoying lady in the stands not so much cheering for the Valkyries,...

Red Bull Rebranding Soccer →
What strikes me first about the history of Red Bull GmbH’s involvement in soccer is the arrogance of its approach, its sense of entitlement, its complete disregard for fans as supporters of a club, and its view of fans as “customers” from whom money is to be extracted.
