Footnotes is a “literary” soccer blog written by Donavan Hall, a Long Island-based writer, soccer fan / supporter, and craft beer brewer. Being a localist, Donavan supports things that are close to home: locally brewed beer, local farms, and local soccer clubs from the amateur level, to the USL PDL club Long Island Rough Riders and NASL’s New York Cosmos. He also pays attention to the broader world of American soccer from “tier four” on up to the MLS and the Men’s and Women’s National Team.
What is a literary soccer blog? The adjective literary is intended to emphasize a focus on the ideas associated with the game, as opposed to covering the news and stats. Also, the posts will be longer and better written than what you’ll find elsewhere.
